Thales USA Inc. is expanding its firm in Brevard and Orange counties also it’s creating many more job growth than originally anticipated.
Thales will create 500 new jobs in Central Florida by the end of 2020. Which means This strengthens Orlando economy with its growth. The plans confirmed July 11 during the Farnsborough International Airshow in Hampshire, England.
“Florida is the best place in the nation for aerospace and aviation companies to grow and succeed,” said Gov. Rick Scott in a prepared statement. “It is great to announce that Thales chose Florida to expand. In which it will create 500 new jobs on our Space Coast at the Farnborough International Air Show today. I look forward to seeing their continued success.”
“Thales’ expansion in Orlando will bring high-quality and high-paying jobs to the region while elevating and diversifying our economy,” said Orlando Economic Development Commission Chair David Fuller. “By highlighting our talented and exceptional workforce, the Orlando EDC was also be able to help win this project and I am proud of the work done by the team and all of its partners.”
The expansion will support the growth of Thales’ InFlyt Experience business in Central Florida with the development of an estimated 120,000-square-foot facility in Brevard County and future expansion plans in Orlando. The company’s InFlyt Experience located in Irvine, Calif. Thales USA, is a global leader for aerospace and defense technology with 62,000 employees which is also in 56 countries. In June, it was approved for an $865,000 incentive package from Florida also 20 percent of which would come from Orlando. The incentives will help Thales build a 30,000-square-foot facility and wil also create 173 jobs in Orlando that pay an average annual wage of $53,255.
The expansion will create opportunities for contractors, vendors and potential employees.
Thales expanded in Melbourne in 2014 when it acquired JetBlue Airway Corp.’s in-flight entertainment subsidiary LiveTV for $400 million. They also took around 450 employees.
With the addition of 327 jobs in Brevard County, Thales’ total capital investment in Florida estimated at $20 million. Thales already has a presence in Orlando at 12001 Science Drive, Suite 165. The company has various branches in military defense, security, electronic manufacturing and in-flight entertainment. The proposed 30,000-square-foot expansion will focus on Thales’ fastest-growing segment with in-flight entertainment. The connectivity systems and services that help enrich travel.
